Not a faceless company.
Just your neighbour.
A local Cambridgeshire business built on hard graft, genuine care, and a stubborn belief that nothing of value should ever end up in a skip.

Meet the Founder
I'm Mike. I'm the one who turns up.
After a decade in London working as an actor and writer, I found myself back where I started: Cambridgeshire. The Fens. Home.
When you book Hunt 'n' Haul, I'm not sending a stranger. There's no franchise, no call centre, no sales team. Just me, a van, and a promise to do right by your space.
I grew up here. Went to school here. My family is here. And after years in the city, I'd forgotten how much I missed the wide skies, the quiet villages, and the genuine warmth of Fenland folk.
A recent stint with Royal Mail reminded me of all that. Walking routes through Huntingdon, St Ives, and the surrounding villages, I rediscovered the beauty of our countryside, and the kindness of the people who call it home.
It was during those postal rounds that the idea for Hunt 'n' Haul started to take shape. I kept seeing skips overflowing with furniture, electronics, and household goods — perfectly usable items heading straight to landfill because nobody had the time or inclination to sort through them. Meanwhile, people were paying clearance companies a fortune, and those companies weren't giving a second thought to what they were throwing away. I knew there had to be a better way — one that respected people's belongings and gave them something back.
The name says it all: the 'hunt' is about searching for treasures and valuables hidden among the clutter. The 'haul' is the practical business of clearing and removing everything else. It captures what we're about — not just shifting stuff, but doing it thoughtfully.
I wanted to build something rooted here. Something that serves this community. Something that combines hard graft with genuine care.

What makes us different is the Treasure Hunt. It's the heart of everything we do. Before we clear anything, we search through your belongings for items that could be sold — antiques, collectibles, vintage finds, quality furniture, working electronics. If we sell them within 30 days, you receive 30% of the net profit as a rebate. It's money back in your pocket from items you were going to get rid of anyway, and it means nothing of value ends up in a skip.
Sustainability isn't just a buzzword for us — it's woven into every job we do. We work with local charities, furniture banks, and second-hand shops across Cambridgeshire to rehome as much as possible. Usable items get donated. Recyclable materials go to the right facilities. We push ourselves to divert as much as is humanly possible from landfill on every single job. What can't be donated or resold goes to licensed waste facilities — we work closely with Thalia Waste Management, who also manage the waste and recycling bin collections across Huntingdon and the surrounding area, and who work incredibly hard to recycle as much as they possibly can. Landfill is always our absolute last resort, not the easy option.
We're fully licensed, insured, and DBS checked — so you can trust us in your home, your garage, or your loved one's property. Our Environment Agency Waste Carrier Licence (CBDU618952) means every item we remove is tracked and disposed of responsibly. We believe in complete transparency, which is why you'll always receive a full breakdown of costs upfront and a detailed account of any Treasure Hunt proceeds after the job.
We serve Huntingdon and the surrounding towns and villages, including St Ives, Godmanchester, St Neots, Ramsey, and communities right across Cambridgeshire. From single-room clearances to multi-day estate jobs, from cluttered garages to probate properties that need handling with sensitivity and care — we've done it all. If you have questions about our services or the areas we cover, take a look at our FAQs page.
This isn't a franchise. It's just me, your neighbour, ready to help clear the clutter, find the treasures, and do right by the places we both love.

What We Stand For
Three principles. Every job.
The values that guide every decision we make — from the first quote to the final sweep.
Compassion
We understand that clearing a space often comes with emotions — loss, transition, the weight of a lifetime's belongings. We treat your things, and your memories, with the respect they deserve.
Sustainability
We're committed to recycling, donating, and rehoming as much as possible — typically 80% diverted from landfill on every job. Skip is the last resort, not the default.
Transparency
Clear pricing, honest valuations, and full breakdowns on every Treasure Hunt sale. No hidden fees, no padded invoices, no surprises. The number we quote is the number you pay.
